i have a dsl modem attached to a wireless router

one computer, a mac running os x tiger, is hardwired to the router,

the other, a dell running xp, is connected wirelessly to the router.

i currently use this only for internet access.

how can i share files/printers between these?

thanks.

on the mac enable windows file sharing under system preferences, sharing. Then simply hit cmd + K or the Go menu, then connect to server and type in the ip address of the windows machine. For example if the ip was 192.168.1.100 you would connect like this

smb:\\192.168.1.100

then authenticate with your password and connect the shared volumes. Make sure that you have the proper resources shared on each machine.

For the printer, you can add the printer's path from your wireless PC to your mac. In XP add the printer as a shared one, and simply put in the network path of the printer. So, if your mac is named, Macinotsh and your printer named HP Laserjet for example you would add it like so

\\Macintosh\HP Laserjet

Then the windows machine will connect and install the printer over the network.
