Hi Everyone

I would like some basic (i hope) networking advice.

I have a desktop pc in my office and a laptop which i use in the living room...i would like to connect the two.

My desktop pc is connected to my router via a network cable.

I also have a TV in my living room which is internet enabled and i use a power line adapter connect it to the router in my office.

I would like to use this power line adapter in the living to connect my laptop to and access documents etc held on my desktop PC in the office and even use the printer.

I have giving it a try and although i can see my desktop pc on my laptop i cannot access it as its asking for username and password details, but i cannot remember giving my desktop a password.

Is there anyway to get round this problem?

Both computers are using Windows 7.

I hope i have made this clear, but if not i will provide additional information.

Thanks

Mark

Have you shared the printer and documents on the PC?

Go into Network and Sharing centre, Advanced Sharing (left hand side, bottom clicky), and turn off "use passwords while sharing" or words to that affect.

You shouldnt need to use the cable as long as the router is wireless, which I am guessing it is.
