Homemade External HD

I want to make an homemade external HD out of wood and an old HD I have. I've seen them on the web where they use a small SATA Power Kit of some type but I have no idea what the name of it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

To be able to carry their stuff around to different computer, its what my dad does

Well yeah that's the reason for an external drive. But why on Earth would you want to make an enclosure yourself out of WOOD of all things?

Some people may like the look of Black Plastic or Metal, but I don't. I have a small 80 GB Drive that I use when I go out of town to help family with their computers. I have utilities as well as personal files and programs. Thanks for the input though.

voyagerfan99 The above Amazon link isn't exactly what I was looking for. I'm looking for one that can actually fit inside the wood enclosure. Thanks Anyway, I guess i'll keep looking.

If what you really want is the wood look, what you could do is get one of the plastic or metal enclosures and cover it with a wood veneer, then stain & finish the veneer to your liking. Make sure you don't block any ventilation holes when applying the veneer.

I've never seen "a small SATA Power Kit" that you could use to make your own enclosure. You could buy an enclosure just for the "guts" to use in your homemade wood enclosure.
