homemade fan adapter?

i want to put a bigger fan on my cpu. but i dont wanna go buy a fan adapter. aNyone have some ideas for one? i can make a decent one outta wood? would that work? also is i put a bigger fan on it do ihave to wire it to the mobo conecteR? or can i used the molex plug it has on it alreadY?
 
I don't see how you're going to use wood but you can always use twisty ties, they usually work.

And the bigger fan should have either the 3 pin connector for the mobo or the 4 pin molex plug, or both.
