There's absolutely no reason why you couldn't do this.

Post a pic up, we can show you the best way to go about doing this.

that looks like a thermostat that controls the HVAC, all its gonna do is tell the the temp, its not gonna really help you do anything else.

i would try and leave the whole unit as intact as possible, is the LCD soldered right onto the board? if it isnt see how long the ribbon cbale is and try and mount it on the drive bay cover.

well ya i figured that.. but i was just wondering ..i could maybe put some of the fan and heater switchs and such to other uses like extras fans or lights idk.. i could put some knobs for fan speeds onto to it perhaps.. idk thats why i asked

Oh, you're talking about a whole thermostat unit. Yea, you could stick that into a 5.25" bay, but what would be the use? It's not exactly a temperature gage, it's a thermostat.

well idk i was think maybe u could use to control some fans maybe? i didnt think so but.... i thot maybe the led screen could move then i may be able to fit in a drive bay.. idk i thot this might be cool but im not sure now

how about using a meat temperature gauge? i bet it would work considering it is small and precise!:P :D :)  oh and i think that the last smiley is thinking not rolling his eyes. lol

A meat thermometer generally only measures temperatures between 100 and 400F. I think that's not exactly what you want.

meat does not get to temperatures greater than 150 degrees, you may be thinking of one for a grill and the heat inside the grill not the meat.

You kidding me?

140 is rare beef
150 is cooked ham
160 is medium beef
170 is pork
180 is lamb
190 is poultry

couldent you run a sensor to the inside of the case? i know that the thermostat has a sensor insode of it or one that is run to the furnace or something like that.

Yes but the thermostat also has a huge amount of other crap on it, and you'd have trouble just cutting it down to just a thermometer.

true, pretty much this will take more effor than it is worth, just go and get a cheap fan controller with an LCD readout that tells your temps.
