Honest opinion please

I have a P4 3.0E(prescott) cpu and a P4 3.4(prescott) on another system. I can and have OC'ed the3.0 to above 3.4 just to see if it could be done.
Question is: What are the DISADVANTAGES of overclocking? Is it a waste of money to buy a faster cpu. i'm not a gammer, jsut a little confuse and appreciate your input. Thanks in advance

Well it quite likely that you want need to overclock. If you were doing tasks that would benefit significantly from overclocking then you wouldn't be asking this question i dont game much my self, but my oc is pretty essential when doing the certain tasks.

I have a 3.2 P4 and I have problems with heat without overclocking it, so be careful whatever you do, I already burned up one motherboard from the hot processor.
