I am wanting to build a gaming rig which I have NEVER done before. I have done as much as swapped out memory, installed power supplies, or swapped out a vid card. I have never started from scratch to build my own PC. I was looking at ibuypower.com and cyberpowerpc.com, but most of their reviews are horror stories. I am to the point now where I am willing to just try and build my own. I have been wanting to do this for years, but have always been so scared. I have been researching for weeks now and pretty much know most of what I want. I am eyeing this. It pretty much has what I am looking for, although, I am unsure about the vid card. I really wanted to go with dual vid cards.
Mostly what I use it for is playing Sims 3 (with a ton of custom content), WoW, Warhammer Online, and a couple more MMOs off and on. I also do some digital scrapbooking and am an amateur photographer.
I think I have settled on AMD. I am also wondering this. Every build I have looked at (AMD), has choices for 4 gb or 8 gb of RAM. Is it not possible to do 6gb using AMD?
I am a complete "noob" when it comes to this, but have read and read and read everything I can find on the net and looked at youtube videos the past few weeks. Also is it really required to purchase the special gloves or wrist wraps when installing the motherboard?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! The biggest thing I am still confused about is what mobo matches up with other parts!
But, really, is it all that difficult? How did you put together your very first pc? Did you start big or practice on something else first?
Thanks!
