Hooking up comp to TV?

Yeah, buy an LCD TV with a VGA input, or get a video card that supports HDMI with Audio out.

Some boards have HDMI outputs onboard, but not sure if they include sound.

A tv with a VGA port is the most common way. But some graphics cards have an HDMI port like bodaggit23 said. My 9800GX2 has one and it came with a cable to hook my graphics card up to (never figured out what) so that it would transfer sound too. Some higher end cards come with a DVI to HDMI adapter, and you could just purchase one off of monoprice.com if you already have a card with a DVI port.

I've connected my laptop to dad's 37" LCD using VGA and it looked very good. Though some TV's are just odd... My Toshiba is 1440x900 but the max VGA resolution is 1280x1024 if I recall correctly (yes, it wasn't 16:9!) But, it still looked tremendously better than trying to use "traditional" TV out (RCA or SVHS)

I use VGA and it looks fine, but I have to be careful which res to use because my tv doesn't support some of them.

When I first hooked up my pc, I got no signal and I thought something was wrong, but turns out the pc was set to a res that wasn't supported.

I had to hook up a monitor and change the res until it worked. Kind of a pain but got it.

You can get adapter cables.

If your graphics slot on the back of your computer is like this:

You can get dvi to hdmi (if your TV has HDMI slots, otherwise whatever connection you will be using)

If it looks like this:

you will want VGA - HDMI (again, or whatever connector you will be using)

If your TV has a "PC" channel or something similar like quite a few do now you will be fine to just use your VGA to VGA cable because it will already have the slot in the back of the TV, but if you have a HDTV, VGA doesn't support HD so you won't be able to get it in full clarity, it will still be good though.

Or if you have a RF modulator you can hook up to a old coax TV like I did before I found my 32 inch LCD.

Oddly enough I had found everything laying around to do it ^-^

Best way is to use HDMI connection on most tv's it allows you to use higher res although vga is okay make sure also if your tv is big you buy the correct high resolution vga lead !!
