hey! just wondering if somone could go over these bits and pieces and let me know if there compatable, i checked already but a double check through other eyes is always helpful, im also open to any comments, i wouldnt mind overclocking a bit, but i dont want to get to serious into it because i wont be liquid cooling, thanks ^_^ these pieces would put the grand total to 6500 before taxes. lol, my heart skipped just saying that :O

A few nitpicks-

1- I can't believe I'm saying this, but you might want to go for a bigger PSU just to be safe...you'll be running well over 900W with that rig at peak.

2- OCZ Gold does not have the best quality control. I'd stick with Corsair or G-Skill for a rig of this caliber.

3- Why not the 980x? :P

4- The motherboard is a CEB design...you normally see that in servers. It won't fit in the HAF, as far as I know. Here's some that will work:

hey thanks for the honesty, i switched out the cpu for the one you suggested, its faster and cheeper lol dont know how I didnt see that one. you think a 1200 watt would be ok? also il look into differnt ram. corsairs always been good to me lol as for the mobo, i do really like the haf case, so im going to have to swap out the mobo, is there anything out there that would still be ccompatable with all my current specs, mostly the ram and 3-sli gtxs and fit in the case? thanks aton!
 
Yeah you should definitely go with i7 980X CPU, they might be hard to get but 2 more cores for the same price as 975 - it's great. I also agree that OCZ is not as good as it was before, my best experience was with G-Skill RipJaws series and ADATA- they are not expensive and have excellent ratings on newegg.

First - ASUS is very nice but you have to make sure that last 3rd videocard will fit in your case - like it should have one extra spot on the back - videocard will stick out of the mobo by half. EVGA I think will not have that problem, little more expensive though
 
^ It will have to be the EVGA, of those two, as the ASUS can't do x16/x16/x16. There's only a few cases that fit it.

It appears that the chipsets needed to run these monsters won't fit on a regular ATX board.


edit: A 1200W would be fine, btw.

In my opinion you dont really need 3 480's. You will be able to run everything with only one 480. If you really want to get 3, first get 1 and then wait the prices to drop a bit and then get 2 more. But it's not really worth spending so much money for 3 cards.
 
For power supply...you almost are gonna need dual power supplies for a 980X and three GTX480's. Because Two GTX480's and a 920 draw just shy of 900w, let alone three of them and a 980X:

The evga board i highly do NOT suggest, and x16/x16/x16 isnt even true on the evga board, there are still only 32 physical pcie lanes on the northbridge, which are then managed by NF200 chips to create virtual lanes that all route through the 32 lanes on the northbridge. There also have been reports of the 4 way destroying 980X cpu's.

When I need new mobo I always check ratings on newegg - like type X58 in the search then sort them by the best rating - go from top and see which one you like.
