Hoping this is just an inverter problem, but need 2nd opinion

Basically the laptop was dropped, and I'm hoping/thinking it's just the screen inverter thats broken because the top 1/3 of the screen is pretty much ok (minus that little darker streak). If it was the motherboard, then I would guess all of it would be messed up. And it's not the screen because theres no cracks and something is visible everywhere.

Do you think its just the inverter and if I replace it, it'll be ok?

I would try to connect it to an external monitor and try to rule out the motherboard but I don't have the appropriate cable.

If it's just the inverter then I'll probably trust you guys and buy a new one. Don't let me down! :)

That's definitely not the inverter. Plug the machine up to an external monitor and confirm it's not GPU related. If all looks good, pull apart the plastic around the LCD and see if you can find what model it is. Typically it's something like LTN154-A01. Use that number and see if you can find a replacement LCD. Or if you want the easy way out, you might be able to find a whole LCD (plastic, LCD, inverter) off a broken laptop identical to that one.
