My computer seems to over-heat a lot. when i am running processor near 100% for a long time the temperature rises to over 60'c and hits 70'c (where my pc alarm sets off). i also notice that my power supply roasts. today when the processor reached 70'c, i touched the power supply and it was burning my finger!! and warping the perspex glass on the case above it. the power supply is at the maximum fan speed aswel. my computer specs are as follows:

icute case with window
5 80mm fans (4 exhaust + 1 intake)
425w hiper power supply with 2 fans.
gigabyte mobo - GA-8IPE1000-G (Rev 4.x)
intel s478 3GHz prescott
Xdream3 cpu cooler
1gb corsair ram (2 x 512mb)
gigabyte radeon 9250 graphics card
160gb seagate sata
lg dvd re-riter
asus dvd-rom

pic of pc at http://m91.co.uk/pc.jpg

can anybody help me?

thank you,

Do you have a web its with a pic of you case on it? when you talk about the 5 exaust fans are you including the ones in your psu?

Hum, thats strange you would think that would be enough fans to keep it cool how strong is your psu? maybe they arent getting enough power?

you have 1 intake fan and 4 exaust? you should try turning that to 2 intake and 3 exaust. And get a better heatsink and maybe get some arctic silver 5 with it. As for your psu...maybe consider getting a new one.

I kept my 3.0Ghz (@3.6) Socket478 Prescott at 30-38 (idle-load) with this

im used the compound that came with that
Im gonna guess DC-340 ... just did a quick lookup ... it's rated at .. a depressing 0.60W/m²K whereas AS5 is rated at 350,000W/m²K ... thats incredibly depressing actually lol .. also, dont use too much!

yes but the power supply also gets hot and also noisy
Heat should be more of a concern than noise at this point

faulty power supply? get a new one?

if your PSU is roasting and it's already got 2 good fans...it's definetly faulty. MY 550w with 1 fan doesn't even get warm.

70C is too hot. b4 i bought a new PSU, i'd get my CPU into the 40C's and see if that keeps the PSU from overheatin as well.

60'C - 70'C is only when i am playing games or the pc is on high load. it can be around 40'c - 45'c just browsing. i have moved my fans around and it has made a bit of a difference.

i have come into anover problem. i don't think this is a heat problem but my pc is starting to freeze. it isnt under high load or anything but its when i am browsing the net. when it happens i record my CPU at 40'C - 45'C. at the moment it is only when i am browsing the web in firefox. it has happened today, yesterday and a week ago it happend a few times. does anybody know the problem?
