blurblock New Member Mar 7, 2006 #1 Just wondering how and what is the best way of doing housekeeping for my PC ?
Hellbreather New Member Mar 7, 2006 #2 Well if you are talking about the actual OS system cleaning (if you are using windows then you can do the following) Clears your internet browsers temporary files (Temp internet files, Cache, History etc.) Clear your windows temporary files Remove old e-mail messages Empty your recycle bin Perform Virus Scans Perform adware & spyware scans Run scan disk in safe mode Run disk defrag in safe mode De-activate startup items that are not needed using msconfig Remove un-used/un-needed/un-wanted programs using "Add/Remove Programs" Review your firewall's program control & the integrity of the exceptions list (If you have any questions about them give me a private message) I will post a PC Cleaning Guide in this forum, (might get sticked)

If you're interested in pre-emptive housecleaning: 1. Well thought out partitioning and file segmentation/organization 2. A good firewall with process controll

Dr Studly banned Mar 7, 2006 #6 you can control your start up items: Start/Run type in "msconfig" (without the quotes) click OK then go to the last tab called "Startup" then you can uncheck and check what you want to startup when ur PC starts up... Edit: If you aren't sure about certain startup items you can find out about them here
