Im trying to run a movie from a secure side but something is wrong here...

the site tells me i need windows media player but i already have it, how can i set the program to play automaticaly when i click a movie?

i think i messed things up when i downloaded a torrent player to play avi

thanks

The torrent player you downloaded may just have become the default player while the options for autorun need to be set in WMP's own options menus. In Vista if you are running that or WMP 11 for XP you will need another player for dvds like Media Player Classic.

In XP simply reinstalling WMP will bring up the option for making that the default player. When first trying 11 and then going back to 10 there like seen before when first trying WMP 10 out the prompt asking for the decision on that would be seen.

I dont think you have to reinstall just to set as default. If you go to the movie you wanna play and right click> open with> chose program> then find wmp in the list> then tick the box "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" then click ok. That worked for me when i had a similar problem :)

In XP you wouldn't have a problem. With Vista however MS now expects you to buy a 3rd party software for dvd playback since WMP 11 doesn't support it except in the Ultimate and Home Premuim editions? With Home Premium here I still had to go for MPC in order to play any dvds despite the MS claim there.

In XP I already use Cyberlink's PowerDVD and WMP 10 for that or audio. With Vista I'm still looking to get a Vista ready version of PowerDVD along with an audio player with screen saver playback since WMP 10 is for XP.
