Hi all, I have a dell xps gen 3 pc. I am trying to install win 7 and during the install process i get a message "could not update the computers boot configuration". I believe this is from a compatibility issue with the intel raid controller. Is there any way to disable the raid without5 any data loss and be able to install windows 7?
Thanks for any help...Dave

NO, you will need to offload your data that you need saved and then disable raid in the bios.

Thanks Johnb35,,,,

....with windows vista installed to c: which is the raid 0 array will vista still function after raid is disabled in the bios?
Dave

nope. You would have to reenable raid to get into vista as long as you didn't mess with anything else.

Tveezz,

Have you attempted to load the Intel RAID controller driver prior to beginning the Windows 7 installation? You will not be able to disable RAID without any data loss.

Also, Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to also check the threads available there for additional assistance and guidance.
