How can I lower ping??

Every time I play Battlefield 2 online, I encounter high Ping. I know my internet connection, which spans wirelessly over 2 stories, isnt that bad. I also expected lag not to be a problem because I play americas army and call of duty 2 with hardly any at all. I have even tried putting all settings on low and it still is encountering some lag. After playing this game four about 4 days I've decided to stop playing it until the lag is done with. Can someone help me or give me suggestions on how to stop the lag and lower my ping?? I was considering buying a wireless bridge to close the distance from my computer and my router. any suggestions at all?

Are there many computers also hooked up to the wireless router? Im on a wireless connection in my room also, and my ping is great, always under 90 or so. Try connecting to servers which are located close to where you live. If you connect to a server in, say, the UK or another country, your ping will be much higher.

yeah my ping jumps way around, i think it depends alot on how much bandwith the rest of the pcs are taking up and where the server is, like skidude said. I get anywhere from 30-200, it really depends.

It's probably more because of your ISP... I mean poor network configs could cause a problem(lots of computers on one internet connection and such...) but it's usally all because of a slow internet connection.

I would sugest that its the server your conecting to. Try find a game that is closest to you. This happens to me often I cant play on a server in america because I get to high ping.

Yeah i think all of you bring up good points. I have two computers hooked up wirelessly to ired. I think thats my problem, so I'll just buy a wireless bridge. What can u do.

Just TRY it w/o the wireless using an eathernet cord, see if that works and use filters to find the lowest ping servers.

Would bringing the modem up to my room help my ping out at all, oposed to being on a wireless conections??

Yes if you run a cord, or move the router closer it will make a big difference.

:)

It also depends a lot on where you live- I live in Wyoming, and i have like 200 ping all the time- just cause im not right on an Internet hub. The nearest servers are in Denver, Colorado, 450 miles away. My friend in Seattle gets like 2 ping, just cause he lives in a major internet hub. If you live next to a major place, then i dont know what your problem is.
