How can i remove the write permissions from a USB flash drive?

I am writing files to a USB flash drive and I dont want the user to be able to delete/format the drive. Is there any way to lock down the files? There is NO lock button on the side of the drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
 
There is no way to completely limit it, as an experienced user will always find a way. Is there an option to use a CD/DVD instead?
 
Thanks for responding! It doesn't have to completely limit it. I just want to make it so that the "average" user has trouble with it.

After you copy the files, use the property mark them read only. if you don't want others to see them mark them hidden too. You can't stop anyone to format it though.
