how can i save the position of my icons on my desk top?

if i select a new res or something the icon order gets all messed up! I like to have them organized. how can i save the location of the icons on my desk top?

i've never tried this..

..but you could try:
1. right clicking desktop
2. Arrange Icons By
3. Uncheck 'Desktop Icons'

I don't know if this will work, but give it a shot..
