On my computer i have people (IPS) connecting to my computer. There are MANY trying to connect to my computer.... Some gaining access... some not. Does anyone know a way on how to stop this?
I have zone alarm, but still people are still getting through it, as i did a scan in DOS and found that some ips are still getting access.

Does anyone know a way to rid my computer of all these attemps on accessing my computer?

Here is a screen shot of the number of IP's trying to connect. Up to 52 now...and some not blocked.

I think that's nothing to be worried about. I have clients that got all freaked out about that. Most of it is from automated emails, adware, certificates, and even licensing on media files. If you've got a good internet security and a firewall built into your router, I'd say you're fine.

You realise it says the firewall blocked them ?

What are some of the IP's that it says are being blocked? my guess is something like "192.0.0.0", or something like that right?

Here is a log of all the connections trying/connected to my pc.....

sdfsdf.jpg

Notice how some have been granted access......

Give my computer a couple hours and there will be 60 more in that list. Ill post a screenshot later.

In Zone alarm there are a few have DNS names..... like....

365-sfo1-internap-probe1.cnet.com
ms22-msr01.hinet.net
mx2.bt.net
221x251x219x212.ap221.ftth.ucom.ne.jp
c-a9bee255.07-13-6c756c10.cust.bredbandbolaget.se

And thats to name a few.....

i would try a traceroute program that can trace the IP's and it will tell you where there coming from.

Then what? How can you stop it from constantly trying to connect to my computer?

well if you traced it, it may turn out to be from something that you want, and you can also see whos trying to access your computer. I would get a different firewall, try norton and see if its any better. You can get a free trial i think on their website.

Dont know what this means... but i know that the bottom three are from my ISP. Dont know why there sending and recieving stuff from my computer though....

I scanned with Symantec online scan and found a virus in my System 32 folder that other scans didnt detect. Went into safe mode and deleted it. After that i dont get these IP connection notices anymore.....
Before my computer had 100% cpu running when i booted up.

I thought it had to be a virus..... :)

thats probably your ISP

the only way to stop EVERYTHING from accessing your computer is to turn it off or disconnect it from the network

as soon as you're connected to the network, your PC is getting traffic....as soon as you throw internet in there, you have to talk to your ISP somehow (which is probably what those are), port 80 is always HTTP so anything connecting there will be websites.....the reality is that you are nothing to any real hacker out there. They want the big score, not joe shmoe and his 1337 Windows XP Home. Some of those blocks were probably pop-ups, or whois queries or port scans or anything....your firewall will protect you from skript kiddies, but it's useless against a real attack, but as I said....there's no need to worry about that because someone would have to pick your ip out of way too many

this is normal web traffic and normal network traffic causing this

I guess so. but i find a virus! Since then there have been no system slowness and no IP's connecting to my computer.... appart from the few you mentioned about.....

If your freaked out by 60 / 70 unkonwn IPs download PeerGuardian
I have it and regularly have over 400 unknown IPs blocked
Most are just harmless as has been said. I know some connect to your machine, look at websites in your history and then report back to where ever so they can send "more relevent advertisements" to you
I wouldnt worry about it....and if you are really really worried....just dont use the internet...or get a crappy rig for internet only :D

Im not getting the unusual slowness and modem light flashing all the time.... trust me there were like 50 ips connected to my computer, which nearly all of them were from a virus i found, since i deleted it there has been nothing out of the ordinary.
