How can I surf the web anonymously?

Where my mac ID or IP address is hidden?

Where there is no way to trace the computer I am using. Other than stealing a computer and using it at a public wi-fi with a mask on halloween.
 
Maybe this is a stupid question, but why do you want to do this?

I don't think there is a way to hide your IP or Mac address. The web is not an anonymous service. If you want to be anonymous, don't use the web.
 
I dont think proxies will actually "hide" you on the internet. There really isnt much you can do to do that at all. But the link to that torbrowser thing is probably your best bet, as in the past I have used browsers to surf anonymously however that does not mean it is more secure. It wont prevent you from getting viruses/spyware by any means.

As for someone tracing the computer you are using, if they have the technology to do so that cannot be prevented. Like, if the FBI are trying to find you and you want to use the internet, theres nothing you can do to hide yourself from them :p

Actually, using Tor and if you're really dead set on anonymity, proxies and private VPNs in addition to Tor, you can hide from the FBI if need be. Tor alone is usually enough however.
Nobody should need to do that though :P
 
I think you can use static ip address for something like that, but i'm pretty sure there's no way to hide your general area. At least the ISP must be always known.

You can hide behind proxies and more than that.. You can get a free VPN service from hotspot shield.

What happens is everything you request goes to their proxy then gets your request and sends it to you from the proxy. This works on more than just surfing the web. (Even works on steam games lol)

SecurityKiss, Your-Freedom, OpenVPN... there are many free VPN:s if you don't want to pay for the service. However, there are also payable alternatives available...
