so i was givin a computer from my friend and he said he was givin it by a friend and i was jw if there was a way to see if its fried without turning it on since i do not have all the parts to it yet
How Can you tell if something on the comp is fried

What parts of the computer do you presently have? What are the specifications also of the parts?

the motherboadr, graphics card, cpu
its a intel core duo quad, and nvidia gt 120 1gig

You need at least the processor, motherboard, power supply, case, RAM, DVD drive and a working hard drive with an operating system installation disk to thoroughly test all components.
If the Intel Core 2 Quad Processor works it would be worth it in my opinion to buy parts to build around it even if all the other parts you have presently are damaged. It has decent processing power by present standards.
You could call different computer shops around your area and ask how much the charge would be to test a central processing unit for you to see if it works. Or better yet, if you could find a friend to test it out in a Socket 775 motherboard that would work with it that would save you some money.

well i used a friends HD and Power supply and it turned on and everything but just showed a black screen.... like the computer was going to the screen but just flashed and went black but it never disconnected from the comp
he didnt know if there was anything on the HD or not tho
