How cna I get another copy of Windows?

Is there anyway i can get a copy of windows from microsoft for my new HDD?

how dead is the harddrive? Was there a HP recovery partion on there? the recovery partion could reinstall windows. On the bottom of the laptop is there a windows serial number product key? You can call HP and tell them what happened an you might beable to get an XP CD for around $25
