In UK, my ISP, BT BroadBand, have just upgraded EVERYBODYS 512k connections, to 2.2Mbps, for no reason whatsoever, with no additional costs!

yeah im on BT broadband.....and am still waiting for mine to be upgraded....i even called BT to see if my cap was going to change...and they assured me they knew nothing about the suggested free upgrade (very good customer service obviosly lol). Have you already had yours upgraded?
 
Haha, liars! They sent us a letter through the post, saying it would be switched over, on the 15th of this month. I connected this morning and got told I was connected at 2.2Mbps so it's been done a little early.

Don't worry about what they say, half of them can't even speak English anyway..They know nothing! You should get upgraded any time now :)

Yeah, thats happening with my ISP too (ntlworldhttp://www.ntlworld.com/) , basically they're just upgrading their servers which totally rock for us because theres no cost increase :D

it is amazing the speed difference isn't it........I have got roadrunner in Indiana and it is lightning quick..........
 
Yeah, i've gone from downloading files at like 40/50kbps, to up to 320kbps! NTL: and BT, a little bit of competition there i'm thinking :) what's the bandwidth allowance for NTL?
 
Yeah, Wanadoo ain't gonna sit around and watch BT and NTL get tonnes more customers..They'll either offer the same service, or same price with more bandwidth, or same bandwidth & speed with a lower price. Your time will come :)
 
I was supposedly be upgraded to 1Mbps but I'm not. I clocked my dowload speed and its way below what it should be. Download speed 408.5 Kbps :mad:. And what takes the biscuit is that I was on 750kbps and they only upgraded me to 1Mbps when it should have been 2Mbps :mad: :mad: :mad:
 
hey just wondering guys,

what service do you have, and how much are you paying? I have comcast right now, and am paying a bit for my 3mbps... i couldn't stand 512kbps (even though that was pretty fast as it was), but if i could get 1-2mbps for the price that i had 512kbps (24.95-30.00) that would be awesome. THanks,

Dude, that would have to some major ISP to provide that kind of service for only 24.95-30.00 (pound or whatnot).I'm with NTLworld and they change me £17.99 a month (which converts to 278.311 Chinese Yuan Renminbi) for 1Mbps only as a special deal e.g. I think 3Mbps in the UK would cost from 34.99 onwards :rolleyes:

yeah in the UK telewest are doing 4MB for £50 a month, but i have seen ISP that are doing 8MB for £50 i cant really remeber the company sry guys :( lol.
