Hi all

I have installed windows on a different directory. (XP)
Whenever I restart or turn on my comp, it asks me which windows I want to get into (in dos).

How do I get rid off the old one?

You can do it by selecting it and telling you not to ask again by doing start>control panal>system>advanced>startup and recovery>setting.
This doesn't remove the windows just hides it so it will not ask. To remove it completely you are better off reformatting and reinstalling.

It should list both windows installs exactly the way you see them when it starts up, and asks you to choose an option. Just delete the one you dont want.

Easiest way is just go to start>run>msconfig> and go to boot.ini and cllick check all boot paths and delete the one that does not exist when it prompts you to.

Regarding your question on deleting the windows, first of all, follow the steps that have been told by lynx6200 or codeman0013 or Vampiric Rouge, any of them to remove the boot selection from dos.....Then finally you do to you windows drive and delete the windows folder for which you dont need the windows........
