How do I det my default search to google?

I apologize for asking such minor questions, but this one is really bothering me.

When I type in text in the address bar (where website addresses are shown), it does a search. I have the option to select from Yahoo!, Google, Bing and some others.

I always try to set Google as the default, but every time I close and reopen Internet Explorer, it goes back to Yahoo! as the default.

Open internet explorer, click on the tools cog in top right corner, click manage add ons, search providers and set google as your default and delete the rest.
