Okay so I fixed the issue sort of by deleting some registry keys. But is it going to cause a problem that now it just shows up as a "CD-ROM Drive" and not the "MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ890ES ATA Device" ?

Now when I try to burn a DVD (ISO IMAGE) it failed. Hardware error.

Edit again: I went ahead and also did the last step on the Microsoft website. By uninstalling, restarting and it would automatically re install its self.
So I did that and the Manshita drive comes back up. But still keep getting a hardware error

You may have to reinstall your burning software. Not sure why you would get the error. What exact error are you getting?

I would uninstall the CDROM in the Device Manager, restart.

+1.

Right click, 'Uninstall Device Driver Software', and restart. Also try reinstalling your burning software as suggested earlier. Do you know that the ISO image you are trying to burn is OK?

Can you try the drive in another PC to prove it's not faulty?
