How do I get rid of the pop-up balloons(or bubbles) that appear near the system tray

Windows XP

Involves registry editing.

RUN---- REGEDIT


Navigate and open "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced",
Go to EDIT --- NEW create DWORD value called EnableBalloonTips with Hex value of 0 and restart your computer.

Hey presto no Bubbles....

I hate bubbles lol

for the faint of heart...

rather than regedit, you can download tweakui for free from microsoft. just google for it, and make sure you get the version for your version of windows. not quite as ruthlessly powerful as the unfettered access regedit gives you, but it's not quite as arcane or dangerous (though it is still dangerous...)

quick access to changing a lot of windows settings not normall accessible from control panel or dialog boxes....
