how do i legally get service pack 2 for free ?? or cant i ??


i thought it was free if you had a real copy of xp

and you will download the entire 266MB executable file. Save it for the future, or until SP3 is released, whichever comes first

A gppd 3rd party site offers SP2 in the redistributed form as well as various downloads for different operating systems. You can easily download SP2 from this site if you are unable to log onto the MS download page posted above. Either link will see the full 266mb redistributable service pack in full. You simply download it from either link into a folder usually outside an MS one for safe keeping and run it from there. If you should have to reinstall Windows without reformatting the drive at some point the SP2 will still right there for use again.

Here I originally backed it up along with other MS updates on a cd-r in the event of a drive being wiped or failing. That can be a real time saver in the event something should go wrong for some reason.
