How do I have several different CoD4 patches installed at the same time?

Title says all, I think I saw this posted before but, I just cant seem to find the thread. (We got to start using tags more)

ive never done it with cod4 but usually i have multiple instances of the game installed with different patches applied to each install

Would I like just install it and then change the name of the folder in program files, then instal another copy?
 
yes.

well install the first one as you normally would

then in the other installations change where its installing to.. like to a diff folder
 
I did this not so long ago... Copy your Avtivision folder to your desktop or something, then apply the patch to that. You can apply another patch to you other Avtivision folder in C:

If that makes any sense?

You just have to direct the patch to the desired folder ;)
