How do I Install a HP windows XP Recovery disc on a dell computer

I HAVE an HP pavilion a375c and TWO recovery discs 1&2 And I want to install it on my laptop I formatted the C: DRIVE and tried SETUP.EXE but that didn't work :confused: . pleas help :D.

is the CD drive set to boot first in the BIOS? 2 discs? Hmmm, I wonder if those are bootable....maybe they don't have ISO boot images......just in-operating system restoration CD's.

If it will boot, you should be able to install your OS. How do you enter the BIOS? As the laptop starts up, maybe pressing the F1 or the ESC key or some other F button.

I hope you are not violating the EULA by installing the same Windows OS via the same CD key number series on 2 different systems if you only have a single license and not a workstation or corporate license.

some manufacturers burn a code/image on the motherboard, so that ONLY the correct restore cd's will work with it, (and i mean down to the very model number of the computer). Some are not imaged and you may be able to, the only way to find out is to try. :P
