how do I know if a keyboard will work with Windows 7 64-bit?

Typically, all USB devices are plug and play therefore do not require any software download. With software change, USB devices should become compatible with them over time if it isn't already the case.

If it's a standard keyboard it should work. Gaming keyboards with macro keys etc will require drivers from the manufacturer to get them working, but the keyboard should function as a normal keyboard with out them.

This applies to all operating systems though.

well, here's another similar issue - my motherboard only has one PS/2 port, and when I just looked at the diagram it describes it as a PS/2 Keyboard port. So does that mean this port is only meant for keyboards, or will a PS/2 mouse also work?
