Go into Start -> Control Panel -> then either system or performance and maintanance system.

Then tell me what you have for a cpu in there. It will say it on the first screen.

would this help?

well it seems that your cpu is good but you should consider upgradeing your Ram. if you have only one stick of 512 then you could just open your box and see the specifics of that stick and get another of the same. that alone should make a pretty big dif.

also what do you use your computer for mostly?

when was the last time you did the basic maintance? i.e. Hard drive defrag/error checking? should be done ATLEAST once a month.

Yeah you will notice quite a boost of performance if you add another stick of 512Mb ram which of course will give you a total of 1Gb....unless you have shared video memory that is.

If you are into gaming you could invest in a new Graphics Card... You'll have to check what type of slot you have though.

hmm can anyone tell me(reffer me to a website) that would sell the 512 ram i need to buy? i have zero idea what im looking for.....

by the way what is shared video memory?

Not a fan of pc games but thanks for the suggestion :)

Its the same for video or photo editing. Id start with ram. But since we dont know what you use it for, or whast in it.....its a pretty difficult call :)

Just tell me what you need to know ;)

what evenscnce said is good, and also let us know what you do mostly with your computer. youve said that you dont use it to do any gaming. (the casual card game or board game is not a problem at all). but do u edit photos/ edit vidoes/ do some 3d modeling... that is what we need to know. your "speed" of the computer is good, but the amount it can prossess at one time is what your lacking with only 512mb of ram. i.e. if your trying to do many things at once, is when you will see a problem.

so let us know what you use the computer for.

if you just surf the web/ send email. and do word documents then another 512 mbs should be all you need.

another 512 makes a huge difference, thats exactly what you need and it will run much faster.

just get CPUz like evan said and go to the memory tab and tell us what it says

the main reason i use my computer is to download music/moives, access the internet and, wait no... thats all
i sometimes upload photos but i dont store them on this computer
and ill be using a sound card on it when my z5500 speakers arrive

well if thats all you use it for then the second stick of 512mb should be all ya need. and make SURE you have a good antivirus/spyware installed. specially if your Downloading stuff from the internet.
