i just got two identical HDs, and how i want to put them in RAID-0. i first disconnected the old HD that had the OS, the went into the BIOS and set the boot priority to the dvd drive, put the windows CD in and pressed F6 when it was loading. this isn't working and i know i did something wrong. can anyone show me the correct steps on how to do this? OS is XP pro and mobo is maximus II formula. do i have to use a floppy somewhere in here? can i use a flash drive instead of a floppy?

It seems like you are trying to do a software raid. If i recall this is only for the server side OSes.

If you have the hardware, you should boot into the raid configuration and configure it before installing

if by hardware you mean any RAID controller card add-ons, i dont have any. the ICH10R can control the raid from the mobo, so how do i go about doing that? how do i boot into the RAID setup BIOS?

Your motherboard manual should tell you how to do it. The first thing you need to do is enter the BIOS and switch the ICH10R ports to SATA mode (defaults to IDE mode I believe). You will need RAID drivers if you are planning to install Windows to the array.

i just figured out that my problem with this RAID installation is in transferring the RAID drivers. i don't have a floppy and tried many different ways to do it with a USB, but i found out that's not possible with XP (only vista can use flash drive in place of a floppy to do this).
