how do i stop adverts loading on a website

in particular, on miniclip, theres this advert that keeps refreshing itself that really lags the game down when it does

is there anyway i can stop this
 
What browser do you use? In Firefox, there is a fantastic tool called 'Adblock Plus' - I recommend you download it.
 
Yeah, I hear that's good, but just remember like any pop-up blocker, some sites need pop-ups for you to access certain pages (a page pops up that has information you need), so just remember that you have it installed. I can't even tell you how many times I've forgotten about my pop-up blocker and have sat in front of the computer for 30+ minutes trying to figure out why when I click a link nothing happens. Then it hits me, I have a damn pop-up blocker. HA! I was so pissed.
 
yes, but when it blocks an automatically opened pop-up, it should inform you about that with a litle bar on top, doesn't it???
 
Oh, sorry. I mis-read that. I don't know how to block adverts, try Advert plus if you use firefox, I was just referring to pop-up blockers in general.
 
for internet browsing get some alternative browser... in opera there is integrated a content blocker and in firefox you get add adblock addon...
 
ad-block plus will block adverts as well as popups.

If it's not autoblocked, just right click on it and choose adblock image.
