My housemates PC has Windows 98...old I know, but it works for what he wants :P .

Anyway, How do we stop the internet automaticially dialling when the PC boots up?

It doesnt start straight away, it dials maybe 2 minutes after everything has booted fully

He doesnt want auto dial turned at all. How do I disable it?

I've never heard of a computer doing that before... Have you let it actually connect and go where it wants to? My guess would be that there's a program that trying to connect to the internet, so the computer starts the browser and dials the server. If you let the computer do its thing, then you know what program is doing this, and then hopefully we can get rid of it...

P.S. Are you sure he doesn't have one of the dial-up porn services installed ;)

Ha ha ha ha.

Nah its not a porn dialler.

My old pc used to do it all the time, and my girlfriends does it on her's (Win2000). The Internet Dial Up box pops up automatically, you close it, it comes back, click it again, it comes back. About 10 ten times....

But on my housemates PC it automatically dials, and then just goes to the home page set (google). Its really bizare. Ive tried to turn it off, but i dont seem to be able to find the right tool in the control panel (im used to XP)

i have been having the same problem lately after changing the modem.so instead of turning off the pc i put it in hibernate mode :D

When I had dial up my computer did that and I found out it was my firewall making it do it, I was using zone alarm at the time!

i remember back when i used 98, anytime you would open IE or some other program that wanted to access the internet, it would start to try and connect on mine too. since this is basically right after startup, i would say to try and clear the startup environment of all the non-essencial programs.
