hey guys, currently my laptop has one harddrive but 2 operating systems, it has windows 2000 and xp, i would like to take off 2000 but i have never had a situation like this, how do i do it? thanks everybody!

Delete the partition that holds the Windows 2000 installation. Right Click My Computer -> Click "Manage" -> "Storage" -> "Disk Management." Right Click the partition holding Windows 2000 and click delete.

After you delete the partition you will need to remove the entry from the BOOT.ini file, othewise it will continue to prompt you every time you boot up.

To change it, open the RUN command and enter "msconfig", then select the BOOT/BOOT.ini tab, and you should be able to check all boot paths (it will determine that the 2000 entry is invalid and delete it).

I don't think your XP installation will be any faster, but you will have more storage available on the hard drive. You can either create a new partition, or use a utility such as GParted to resize the XP partition with the new space.
