How do i uninstall windows xp, then re install it? I want to do this because i would like to start my computer from scratch. So that all my virus's are removed and all my programs are gone.

Do i basically just go to safe mode, go to add or remove programes, then i uninstall windows xp, then i restart my computer and pure the disk in and install it again?

Will this remove everything?

If I'm not mistaken all you have to do to reinstall windows is to pop the Windows disk into your drive, restart and when teh XP logo or whatever its called appears, you press F8 (is that the right key?) and follow the steps from there. I did this several times with my Dell, worked like a charm. Do not forget to reinstall drivers and stuff like that.

heres my way: pop your windows xp CD into the cd drive, and when you start your computer it should say: Booting from CD, Press any key to continue (or seomthig like that). the software loads, and it tells you to repair or clean install , choose clean install, presss f8 when it asks about the license agreement, and then delete your partition on the hard drive, and then click "install windows xp on this partition". then it should start installing, the rest is automated until your get to the part where it asks for the companyt and name, time and date, and COA. if your computre doesnt boot from the cd drive go to the CMOS/BIOS and choose boot order, and put your CD drive first, then your HDD>

Doesnt work seeing as i never got anything on my sscreen saying Booting from cd or anything.

Wow, can you guys please not assume that i know what youre talking about. Like half of youre dam words dont make sense.

Can some one tell me what to do step by step. I dont know alot about computers.

You need to go to BIOS setting.
When computer is starting up keep pressing delete or F2...
What computer have you got? You can look it up on google how to get to bios if these two won't work.
In bios find something like boot order and change to boot first from CD, second from HD. Save changes, exit bios.
Try again to boot from cd.

OKay, seeing as i have no clue what you guys are talking about, im going to go to add or remove programs then im gonna go to uninstall windows xp then im gonna restart my computer and go to install windows xp.

Theres no such thing. Uninstall/install wont let you delete XP because your using it. It wont even show if you try to look it up. You cant go to My Computer and fotmat your drive anyways. If you need help look up my other post. Put your Windows XP CD in your CD drive. When you start up your computer (im guessing this is self built) it will say something around the words of: Press F2/DEL to enter BIOS. On older dell models you have to press CTRL+ALT+ENTER. When into BIOS, there are many buttons to choose from. Click each one and dont change anything until you find a BOOT Sequence button. It will say around the words of: FIRST BOOT: HDD 2ND BOOT: FLOPPY 3RD boot: CD DRIVE, or in a different order. Make your CD theFIRST boot device, exit out of that screen to the main screen, and Exit and SAVE! then follow my steps in the last post
