I just bought a new computer, and there re a lot of files on the old one that I would like to be able to access.....pictures and text files and such.
I found out that I can buy a special transfer connection with software to dump the files on the old one onto the new one, so I ordered the stuff to do that.
Then I got to wondering if I could just hook the old one up to the new one....sort of a small network, if you will and use it as an external hard drive and when I want to access those old files, just get them off the old machine.
The old one uses Windows XP and the New one uses Vista.
The old one is an Emachines ti1000 and the new one is a HP 36201 slimline.
The question is...can I do that? and if so, what is involved.
As you may have gathered, I am no computer guru, but if it is simple enough I can prolly manage it.
