how do they calculate 600W for this PSU?

How do they come on the total of 600W,.. i mean, 580W on the +12V and 20W on the -12/-5V rails but where are the +3.3 and the +5v rails in that total Power?

Or do the +5 and +3.3 'share' the 155W they have with the +12v rails?
 
If you look closely, you see that the 580 includes the +3.3, +5, in addition to the +12.

So 580+20 = 600 Watts.
 
true... but.. P=U*I.. since its has 4 * 12V rails,.. and each rail is 18 Amp... its 864 Watt on the 12v rails.. so something isnt right.. (its just me i guess.. but i cant find what i'm doing wrong :( )
 
You have to be careful with multipule +12V rails. Each one is capable of 18A but all 4 combined cannot exceed between 425W to 580W

Cromewell is correct. This is one area where cheaper PSUs can get away with saying that their PSU is 600w when in reality it is less. The one thing about that power supply is that it doesn't ever tell you the overall 12V rail maximum, which is a little interesting, not that I say that power supply is bad.
 
The +12V rails are capable of putting out up to 580W of power on their own, but any load on the +3.3V and +5V rails must also be counted within that 580W. In practice, this is somewhat deceiving. The GameXStream doesn't have indenepdant voltage regulation, and so some load is required on the +3.3V and +5V rails in order to achieve high +12V output. This is called crossloading.

To give you an idea of its potential, however, i've seen it output over 550W on the +12V rails during review testing. It's a great unit.

Quad +12V rails will never sum directly. In fact, it's rare even for units with only two +12V rails to sum like that.
