How do you download Youtube videos?

So I have been messing around with GIMP the last couple days...there are some great Youtube videos on how stuff woks. The problem is...I have to go back to Afghanistan Wednesday. The internet is soo slow there...it can take hours to open a Youtube video.

Is there a way I can download the GIMP Youtube videos and save them? That way I can just pull them up and watch them when they are needed?

Is it legal?

I think you can download this thing for Firefox called or something that lets you do that...

Just FYI, there's a jailbreak-App for iPod Touch and iPhone called which downloads videos, too.

you can then download the video in .flv format (flash video). Can watch it with FLV player, which you can download from here:

That is what I do. It actually used to be in the app store by apple, called. But they took it out. I just download it on my ipod and transfer to my computer.

All u do is paste the URL of the vid into the little bar thing, it finds the video and gives you it to download in many different formats and qualities xD
I think it's legal - I think it's only illegal if you download the copyrighted material like music vids... Of which I would... Never... Do cuz I'm a ... Good girl

Yes you can but just in case I would recommend http://www.youtube.com/ asking the user of the video(s) if they are okay with you downloading them me http://www.youtube.com/user/Fira777 is always okay with downloading my videos.

Also do not download music videos or movie videos unless you have obtained proper permission(s).

Well I would recommend to use Because It's the ONLY downloading site i trust. You can even convert the files! It takes a while, but in the end you can watch it, and you can even convert it to MP3 form.

I use , it has a mouse-over called so you can quickly download videos you want just by running your mouse over the playing video and giving it a click, it works great with YouTube. is also a nice free option for regular downloading stuffs.
