Right now with the setup on my PC I have listed below, I currently have an ATI TV Wonder Elite that is working great surprisingly in Vista 32-bit Media Center Edition. I'm receiving the cable signal directly from the cable set-top box into the back on the TV tuner card.
Now since I've been reading that the TV Wonder Elite will not accept HDTV signals, I am at a loss. When I looked around at HDTV PCI tuners out there, I read in a review that those cards are for FREE-TO-AIR HDTV signals... Meaning you have to have an actual antenna to receive anything. I read that it won't work on HDTV cable box signals. This is getting frustrating.
I don't want to use a freaking antenna. Can someone please explain to me how to get this setup to work:
1. I can place a Comcast HDTV set-top cable box right on my desk. An incoming coax will come into the HDTV box and be relayed (already unscrambled) to the back of my PC tower.
2. Once I have that HDTV signal inputted into the PC, the nVidia 8800 GTX has an HDTV s-video out port on the back of the card. I assume that out goes into the monitor.
3. The monitor is an HD-LCD HDCP compliant monitor so I know for a fact it can play HDTV content. That's the whole reason for me trying to get this to work!
If anyone out there can help... It's like having a Ferrari without the engine. Have a hell of a system to use HDTV but need some pointers as to what to do next.
I don't wanna dish out $100+ for a new PCI TV tuner if the thing's not going to work.
