how do you install a new desktop theme

hi

i downloaded a new theme from my desktop which changes the way the start menu looks completely and the windows ect. how od i install it or where do i drag the folder to get it to work.

i have downloaded but havnt extracted the folder yet so tell em what to do from here. thanks Alex

Generally you would do that in the display properties found in the Control Panel. A simple right click on the desktop in XP will see the name "theme" as the first item where you can save the current or load another and click the apply button to set the appearance of the desktop, 3D items like the Start menu's task bar, border on windows opened when browsing folders, and a few others. If you save the present settings with a name you enter that will show just what folder to copy the downloaded theme into. You would simply browse and apply that from the settings mentioned here.
