How do you install windows xp on a external harddrive

Alright as for INF files you can do it yourself with simple notepad since Windows ME has it.
As for unpacking the files,I can do it for you and upload them.Just tell me exactly which files you need me to unpack. If possible give me the link.

usbstor.in_
usb.in_
usbport.in_

these are the files i want to unpack but tell tell me how you want to give them to upload them online or you take them off the windows cd unpack them. i would perfer you just take take the files off the cd and unpack them then upload them somewhere

Ok I will unpack them and upload them.Just give me a day or two since I must find my XP CD and go to the dentist also lol.

OK thanks also hey can look at my other trend about making windows me look like windows whistler i need some help

never mind i got an older cabinet sdk that i found on that works on dos but thanks for your help and thank you for helping me to get xp on usb :D

I have extracted the files and compressed them in a single ZIP file.
You will need programs like 7-zip to extract that ZIP file.As I remember 7-zip works on Windows ME so you can use that one.

Do you still want me to upload you the files or not?

By the way sorry it took me a day longer.I am working on my main UAC data complex center working environment so I was busy a little bit.

yes i screwwed up with dosnet.inf because the cd i had had of windows xp was modified for no reason so yes please upload them

Here you go:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/8497jw

The ZIP file is called "USB HDD data.zip".Extract it using 7-zip program (or which ever extraction program you want) and you will get those 3 following files:

usb.inf
usbport.inf
usbstor.inf

By the way...7-zip program works under Windows ME and you can also use it to extract those ".in_" files without using that SDK cabinet program from Microsoft since you do not have CMD in Windows ME. ;)

Cheers!

thank you and i use 7zip any way i have tried 7zip on every windows os beside the first two because i know that will not work but i figured out the newest version of 7zip work all the way up to windows nt 4.0
