how do you limit startup menu on computers w XP??

i have used msconfig in past, and dont know which boxes to uncheck now. before there were 4 that you left checked, now i dont know whch ones as they are not the same as before... thanks in advance...
 
Startup menu? like what programs the computer loads when starting up? If so you go to the startup tab and kill everything you dont want (just i disabled them all :))
 
yeah, when you goto start>run, type msconfig and it brings up the start menu...you say disable everything?!...wouldnt that effect vital components when starting up?...anyone else?
 
Take a screenshot of your startup list and let us see. But first, expand the command tab so we can see the whole path before taking the screenshot.
 
Some of the services are essential, and it will tell you which ones are. If you disable everything, it's almost like working in safe mode, you wont have any of the features that XP offers. Just use your common sense and uncheck the ones you know you dont use.
