How do you overclock RAM?

How do you overclock RAM? I have 1 stick of 512mb PC2700 and another stick of 1gb PC3200, and I was thinking of overclocking my PC2700 to a faster speed so that my ram can work faster than just PC2700. Is overclocking ram risky compared to video cards, and cpus? What program is needed?

Goto your BIOS and alter the memory clock directly :) Of course with an OEM box you may not be able to accomplish much

Also just to be sure you know this you have two types of RAM. One is PC2700 and the other is PC3200...but your computer is running at PC2700 ecause can't mix and match different speeds of RAM, it will always run the speed of the slower one.

What do you mean by an "OEM box" ?

Yea, I know, its only running at PC2700 speed, that is why I am trying to overclock it.

OEM= Dell, Gateway, Any manufacturer
And granted companies like Falcon Northwest, Voodoo etc do fall under this definition (as well as mine), its generally understood that they are exlcuded :)

What if he bought it from somebody who built it himself
Then we'd call it a used computer. Or "my friend built it for me" (you see, "OEM" wouldnt come up them)

Doesn't necessarily mean it's used because somebody built it, what if he bought it from an independent custom builder like ecollegepc? Those are all 100% overclockable.
