how do you turn off an internal microphone?

Hi, I have a laptop with an internal microphone and it turned on by itself when I was running roxio music editor. does anyone know how to turn it off?

Goto your sound properties then look for Microphone. Then Check mute on it.

Goto your sound properties then look for Microphone. Then Check mute on it.

All this does is mute the playback of the microphone.

Basically, when you talk into the microphone YOU won't hear it, but the microphone can still be used for recording etc.

so I will still pick up sound from the microphone (in mute) when I record?
