how does a 3800+ x2 compare to a p4 3.2?

3800+ x2 dual core against intel p4 3.2 single core?...3800+ x2 all the way...there's no competition between those two

Well you can compare them, it's just kind of stupid to do so, both price and performance vise. :)

X2's competitor is the Smithfields.

Edit: When posting anything about the P4 CPU's (or any chip) don't forget to mention which particular chip you have in mind. Not that it matters all to much in this case but think about it.

Intel has 7 or so single cored P4 CPU's all operating at 3200Mhz.

I take it your an intel fanboy then
Thats what it sounded like at first, but if you think about it, i think he means something like this: "Get the AMD, c'mon, Intel? you must be kidding!" right? lol

Ah, i see that now

the X2 3800+ beats it in any test you can throw at it.
Extract audio stream from 700MB MPEG4 --> LPCM via VirtualDub. You'll quickly realize how much faster a P4 is.

yeah, trying to figure out what 3.4 was used in this rig on this site though..
Prolly a P4-550

The fact that it is dual core has nothing to do with the win.
