How does a 9800 GT do on a 20" (1680x1050) Monitor?

How well will the 9800 GT fare with games such as Crysis, BF3, BF2142, CSS, Far Cry 2, and other recent awesome games on a 1680x1050 resolution? The other specs of my rig are going to be a Q6600, and 4GB of RAM (well the only specs that really matter for gaming :P).

EDIT: Also, can a 9800 GT XXX edition do SLI with a normal 9800 GT?

I have a 22" 1680x1050, and an 8800GT, so I would assume my system performs very similar to yours (if you overclock your CPU). You will be able to max BF2142, CSS, TF2, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, COD4/5. Pretty much any game over a year old. Crysis, Fallout 3, and Far Cry 2 you will have to lower to some combination of med/high with low AA.

Oh ok, So I could probably overclock them both? :D. No one answered the question that I wanted to get answered though.. :P

Yes, you can overclock them both. If its more expensive it wouldn't be worth it to get the XXX version though because it will be forced to equal the clocks of the non-XXX card.

Yeah but I'm torn between buying a XXX initially, so I could save my money for a new phone or a couple of games, or just buying a normal one then save my money to SLI two normal ones. (I'd do SLI either way, one would just be later.) One more question, if I buy two XXX's they would stay at their OC clocks right?

yes they would stay at their OC clocks, but if you plan on getting the cheaper normal clocked version, there are programs such as eVGA Precision that allows you to OC it to your XXX speed.

I've never overclocked anything before so I'd be screwed with something like that unless I used Rivatuner. Is that hard to use?

umm... RivaTuner isn't hard if all you're doing is upping the clock speed and the mem speed.

Ok. One more question. If I overclock my Q6600 to 2.6ghz how much hotter do you think it would be? Would I need to buy a super fan or something >.>?

.2 of a GHZ OC wouldn't make much of a difference in terms of heat.

Are you using the stock HSF provided by Intel?

Wouldn't make much of a difference in terms of performance either. If you're going to overclock the Q6600, shoot for 2.8+ then it might make a difference that you'd see. It's really not needed to overclock a Q6600, nothing maxes it out unless you're doing rendering of some sort..

As Intel_man said, what HSF do you have?

Well... it is a $20 fan. BUT many reviews said it was good, so here it is,

Could that cool it at 2.6 - 2.9 Ghz?

Your card is not even going to be challenged by CSS. That game is old, and the Source engine is incredibly efficient.

The 9800GT will do great in most games, except maybe Crysis. You won't be able to max everything in Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 either, but still high settings, especially with a drop in res (1440x900).
