I found my old notepad with all my comp parts I wanted, i changed a few how does this look for a good gaming system? The only things im worried about is the mobo. Is there a better one that works with everything else I have, because my last system the mobo got outdated fast and i was screwed. Dont want a repeat. And I dont want my overall price to go past $1,400.. so any thoughts?

Not bad. The ZS is good but an X-Fi would be even better! Also, consider going Conroe. I was a total AMD fanboy up until my good friends here convinced me otherwise ;P The new Conroes really do have the power underneath them!

How long till AMD puts out a proc like the conroe you think? After my past history with intel.. like my past experience with ATI lol..

Hows the mobo, that is my main concern.

ok i dont get why you go for all the other high end stuff in CPU, MOBO, GPU and they you shit on the RAM. get some nice DDR2 800 RAM preferally the CORSAIR XMS2 C4 kind

How do you think he'll get ddr2 800 when he's 18 dollars off the max budget,im pretty sure he cant get that ram.DDR2 675 isn't bad, theres nothing wrong with it.

Excellent Case

AM2 CPU OK, but intel duo core would work better

For the motherboard you could get something far better without all those driver problems.

Graphic card, excellent for gaming. If you really had cash you good get the high end ATI series.

RAM seems good to me. No probs reported

CD drive could be better.

Sound card fine, but you may have to mess about with it.

I reccomend the following card, it is the same price and no problems are reported.

That mobo is socket 939 and the proc i want is AM2?

Also what CD drive to the person above this post.. i was planning on taking the CD an DVD drives from my old computer.. but now my mom wants to buy this comp from me with everything in it so i have to buy a new PSU and drives.

I dont know, but do i need to buy a new windows xp cd or can i just re use the one from this comp?

I bought it b4 but it was 24 in my mobo was 20 i didnt know it came with a 20adapt.. so, about the mobo.. lol, adz gave me a link to another mobo but it was socket 939 an my proc was AM2.. so should i stay with my current mobo or hmmm? Some one said that i should go with 800 on the RAM from the 675 i have listed, can you direct me to the page for a good 800RAM that is under $200?

thanks for the help so far though glad some ones listening :)

How much better is that 800 compaired to the 675? tons, or very small? They are almsot the same price, just curious.

well that Isquaredinc place i just found looking for the CORSAIR modules since they were so expensive at newegg but HIGHER FREQUENCIES yield better results so i would go witht eh DDR2 800 and try and OC it as igh as possible

Have you considered going with a Core 2 Duo build? For the moment they've retaken AMD's grip over gaming.

How long till AMD takes that back though? I am hesitant to go back to intel..

I would still like thoughts about the motherboard..

It will be a while before AMD will be able to come up with a processor to beat Intel's Core 2 Duo line. Right now (and I'd say into the next year as well) Intel will be king.

It's impossible to know, AMD is coming out with K8L in about a year, but you can't know if it's going to beat Intel's latest offerings untill it comes out. I'm sure AMD is going to have something which will beat conroe, it's just a matter of when, like you said.

While it's true that Socket AM3 CPU's will be backwards compatible with socket AM2, you should really just go with what's best right now.
