Yup, another newb trying to build a computer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm interested in gaming; like the rest of the world, l am looking forward to Crysis.

I don't really plan on over clocking, but maybe in the future and Im not interested in SLI.

Anyways, here is what I'm looking at:

Processor- Intel Q6600 - $300 (July 22nd)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

Graphics- EVGA 8800 GTX - $560
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130072

RAM – Corsair XMS 2GB- $131
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034

DVD- Sony NEC- $30
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827152076

Motherboard- Gigabyte 965P- $120
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128012

Hard Drive- Samsung 400GB- $95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152085
(Not too sure about this one:confused:)

PSU- SilverStone ST50EF 500W - $100
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256008
(Again, not too sure about this, anything cheaper that will suffice?)

Case- Rosewill- $45
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811147037

Total = $1381

So, how is that looking? Am I on the right track?

Thanks!

Well if you want a darn good gaming experience, you need great sound. I'd say either get a sound card or a motherboard with awesome integrated audio.

Alright, that power supply is out. Guess I need to look for about 600W+ huh?

How about that motherboard, should I go a little bit higher quality or is that good enough?

Alright, for my PSU, I now have my eye on this one

Corsair 620W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139002

However, now I'm kinda concerned about my Motherboard. I'm starting to read into them more and I'm a little confused on this whole "P35" and the "965P" stuff. I read somewhere that 965P are a little outdated. Any advice with this?

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it.

Well like i said buy.com has it for a better price, Corsair 620W , P35 is a bit better since is more updated in driver terms

Yeah i would get it from buy.com for cheaper unless you want to spend more and feel more comfortable with newegg.

Not that great and it only has 1 year warranty vs the corsair which has 5 years warranty

It's got a two year part warranty, and a one year labor warranty. Whereas the corsair has no labor warranty, but it has a 5 year parts warranty. Either or would work but if your on a tighter budget the FSP would be more then enough.

What are some examples of a motherboard brand with awesome integrated audio? Gigabyte or MSI or Intel? Can post links to these motherboards?

Haha... you guys are both using third party groups, this FSP was mentioned by someone the other day for being on the crap list. Corsair PSU's are made by Seasonic, from what I hear.

Fortron isn't on the "bad list". For a look at the "good" and the "bad" often still being revised take a look at the makes and models advised and not advised below.

Further revised:
Good:
Antec(except Smart Power models) - Astec - AOpen - Channel Well - Coolermaster - Enermax(except Liberty models)
- Enlight - Fortron Source (Sparkle) - HEC - OCZ Technology - PC Power & Cooling - PowerMan
- Seasonic - SilverStone - Sunbeam - Tagan(older models) - TTGI/SuperFlower - Vantec - Zippy / Emacs - Verax - XCLIO - Zalman
- Corsair - Ultra

Bad:
Allied - Antec Smart Power models seem to lack(recommend True Power or NeoHE) - Aspire - CoolMax - DEER - Enermax Liberty models - ePower - EYE-T
- KingStar - L&C - Linkworld - Logisys - PowerMagic - PowerUp - Powmax - Q-Tec - Raidmax - Skyhawk - Star
- Turbolink - ThermalTake(complaints heard some good some ???) - Rosewill - SilenX ??? ToPower(newer models)
