How exactly do I get internet from one computer to another?

I'm about to have another computer for my office, so I was going to put the old computer in the living room for the kids. The office computer will have internet from a cable modem, and I want to broadcast internet to the other computer wirelessly. How can I do that? I presume I need a wireless router, an N router I guess? or do I need G and N?? does either computer need other parts installed inside the case or hooked up via USB??

You would definitely need a wireless router and a wireless adapter on the other computer. If its not gonna be too far away from the router than you can get a usb adapter. If its gonna be a good distance away from the router then you would want to get a pci wireless card. I can give you recommendations from newegg when I get home from work. l will recommend a router and a wireless adapter.

that would be super. I would appreciate a recommendation on both the USB adapter and a PCI card adapter, as well as a router. the distance between the 2 computers will be about 20-30 feet. thanks!!

since, that's a b/g router, I guess you're saying that would be more useful to me than an N band router? I'm really kind of in the dark, I guess I should research routers a bit...

N is just faster and has better range. Since your computers are 30 feet apart range wont be an issue. And since G is 54Mbps and as long as your internet speed isn't faster that you wont notice a speed difference online. G is cheaper obviously.
